About Me

As a writer with over 10 years' professional experience, I can help you convey your business' message to your audience in a way that is simple and digestible, while being informative and engaging.

I began my career as a journalist, first as a freelance writer for local magazines while studying for my degree in English, then, after graduating with honours, I became a full-time editorial assistant at a luxury lifestyle magazine, before progressing to content writer, then deputy editor at a national hair and beauty title.

Following this, I decided to take the path to become a full-time freelance writer. Since 2017, I have worked with independent businesses, agencies and influencers to create content that captivates their audiences.

Why employ me and not ChatGPT?

I believe we have a moral obligation to keep a human element to business. Your audience is human, so what better way to connect with them than with a human writer? I can write (good) humour; I can make obscure references to nineties pop culture; I can talk about an experience or product in a way that elicits a visceral response from the reader, allowing them to connect with your brand in a way that can't yet be facilitated by AI.

I'm also a brand geek. This means that, when we work together, I become a fan of your brand. From the ins and outs of your audience, tone, style, genre, to graphic elements such as the use of imagery, typography and colour palette, I commit to understanding your branding just as well as you do. This helps me tailor my writing style to fit your business.

Experience

I have worked with a number of different content management systems in a range of formats. The CMSs I have experience with include Wordpress, Blogger, Webflow and Squarespace. I also have experience with Substack, Mailchimp, Shopify, Podio, Trello, Later, and a range of other platforms. I can also learn new software quickly, and adapt to your business' needs.

I have experience writing B2C as well as B2B, in the sectors of: fashion, beauty, lifestyle, travel, pet care, horticulture, psychology, gynaecology, rheumatology, recruitment and human resources.

I hope we can work together!

The Remarkable Mental Health Benefits of Gratitude Journaling

In today's fast-paced world, where stress and anxiety seem to be constant companions, finding effective ways to promote mental well-being has become paramount. One such practice that has gained significant attention for its positive impact on mental health is gratitude journaling. This simple yet powerful technique involves regularly jotting down things you're grateful for. While it might seem like a minor activity, the act of practicing gratitude through journaling can have profound effects on your overall mental well-being. In this blog post, I explore the remarkable mental health benefits of gratitude journaling.

1. Enhances Positive Emotions

Gratitude journaling is all about focusing on the positive aspects of life. By taking time to identify and acknowledge the things you're grateful for, you shift your attention away from negative thoughts and worries. This shift in focus can lead to a heightened sense of positivity and happiness. According to research, the brain's neural pathways are influenced by regular expressions of gratitude, creating a more optimistic outlook on life.

2. Reduces Stress and Anxiety

Engaging in gratitude journaling can have a calming effect on the mind. When you actively practice gratitude, your brain releases chemicals like dopamine and serotonin, which are associated with feelings of pleasure and well-being. This chemical release can counteract the stress response and reduce the levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, leading to a decrease in overall stress and anxiety.

3. Promotes Self-Awareness

Gratitude journaling encourages introspection and self-awareness. As you reflect on the positive elements of your life, you become more attuned to your emotions and thoughts. This self-awareness can help you identify patterns of thinking that might be contributing to negative feelings. By recognizing these patterns, you can work on reframing your perspective and cultivating a more constructive mindset.

4. Strengthens Resilience

Life is full of challenges, and cultivating resilience is crucial for navigating them. Gratitude journaling can help you develop a stronger ability to bounce back from adversity. When you consistently focus on the things you're grateful for, you build a mental arsenal of positive experiences to draw from during tough times. This reservoir of positive memories can bolster your resilience and help you navigate challenges with a more optimistic mindset.

5. Enhances Relationships

Practicing gratitude extends beyond the self—it can also have a positive impact on your relationships. Expressing gratitude towards others can strengthen social bonds and foster a sense of connectedness. When you write about the people, experiences, or acts of kindness that you're grateful for, you not only solidify those positive feelings within yourself but also create a sense of appreciation that can be shared with others.

6. Improves Sleep Quality

Struggling with sleep? Gratitude journaling might be the solution you're looking for. Engaging in this practice before bedtime can help shift your focus away from stressors and anxieties, allowing your mind to relax and prepare for restful sleep. Improved sleep quality, in turn, contributes to better mental health and overall well-being.

Why you should start gratitude journaling

Incorporating gratitude journaling into your daily routine can be a transformative step towards enhancing your mental health. By taking a few moments each day to reflect on the positive aspects of your life, you can cultivate a more optimistic perspective, reduce stress and anxiety, and build emotional resilience. The beauty of gratitude journaling lies in its simplicity—it requires only a pen, paper, and willingness to embrace the positive. So, why not give it a try? Start your gratitude journal today and embark on a journey to a happier and mentally healthier you.
